Elements of humor in Ibn-e-Insha's Travelogues
Abstract
Ibn-e-Insha is one of the most important travelogue writers of Urdu literature. The prominent feature of his travelogues is his beautiful narrative style. He traveled to many countries around the world, and his travelogues contain detailed information about his journeys. He extensively used satire and humor in his travelogues. He depicted the circumstances of his travels in a humorous manner, which created interest in his travelogues. Ibn-e-Insha's travelogues hold a significant place among Urdu humorous travelogues. In his travelogues, he seems to compare Jabja with the way of life in his own country. Sometimes they see compatibility and sometimes opposition. In many places, they see the flaws and defects due to which they have fallen in their own country. They go on clarifying them without any strings attached.
