Abstract

The epistemological canvas of Urdu fiction is wide. Among the early fiction writers, there is a tendency to be attracted towards patriotism, resistance attitude, revolutionary trend, oriental style of feeling and local culture. The name of Azam Karevi is important among the first fiction writers who made the subject of Western and Eastern civilizations. He felt the new cultural changes. His personal inclination is towards the local way of feeling, social values, traditions and eastern civilization. They are aware of the negative effects of western civilization on the society. They challenge the so-called development that has badly crushed localism. Their western and eastern cultural influences are prominent. They propagate oriental and indigenous civilization as opposed to colonial ideology. They seem to stand with Eastern thought and local civilization by showing the two contrasting roles of Western and Eastern thought or by showing the Western invasion.
